I thought music would be an excellent way to connect the real world to my philosophy statement so I gathered a few of my favorite songs to do so.

Red Sam Flyleaf

Here I stand
Empty hands
Wishing my wrists were bleeding
To stop the pain from the beatings

There you stood
Holding me
Waiting for me to notice you

But who are you
You are the truth (you are the truth)
Outscreaming these lies
You are the truth (you are the truth)
Saving my life

The warmth of your embrace
Melts my frostbitten spirit
You speak the truth and I hear it
The words are I love you
And I have to believe in you

But who are you
You are the truth (you are the truth)
Outscreaming these lies
You are the truth (you are the truth)
Saving my life

My hands are open
And you are filling them
Hands in the air
In the air, in the air, in the air

And I worship
And I worship
And I worship
And I worship

You are the truth (you are the truth)
Outscreaming these lies
You are the truth (you are the truth)
Saving my life

Red Sam - Flyleaf

Red Sam by Flyleaf shows Lacey's love for god. Lacey is the vocalist in Flyleaf, a very Christian rock group. Red Sam explains a rough patch in Lacey's life. She was considering giving up and commiting suicide because it felt like she had nothing left to live for, she lost everything. Only the love of God saved her. She found her love for God and that helped her get through everything that was going on and she survived. Without the love between Lacey and God, Lacey would be dead. The over-powering feeling of nothingness couldn't stop the love between Lacey and God which saved her life in the end.

She Took Him To The Lake Alkaline Trio

Do you remember the story of a boy and his first date?
She took him to the lake, and he fell in love.

She spent one summer waking up between his arms.
She told him how good that felt- oh that he was the one.

But then she went away
His calls were not returned, he went to see her but her eyes were burning a different stare.
The focus was somewhere else. The feeling had somehow disappeared.

Do you remember when they both rolled out of state?
Stealing kisses behind her cousins back, with a love so strong, tell me who could wait?

When it seems so right, and it feels so right, then it had to be right.
When it seems so right, when it feels so right, then it had to be right. (Gotta be right!)

When it seems so right, and it feels so right, then it has to be right.
When it seems so right, and it feels so right, then it had to be right.

But then she went away, and she's not coming back, and I'm pretty sure that boy is staying in tonight.

She Took Him To The Lake - Alkaline Trio

She Took Him To The Lake by Alkaline Trio is about the love between two people. If it's strong enough, that love will last forever, nothing would be able to stop it. In this case, something fell apart at some point. In the beginning, they were invinsible, they were in love. All the sudden, things weren't the same. In the end it all falls apart. He was still in love, but she wasn't. Nothing can break that love he has for her, that's why he's staying in tonight. It seems there's nothing left for him to do because nothing will stop that love, and that's what's killing him.

Love Her Seether

I met a girl who hated the world
She used her body to sell her soul
Every time they'd break her and pay
Tear out her heart and leave her in pain

I never found out how she survived
All of the sadness she kept inside
I never found out how she could lie
With a smile on her face and the scratches she'd hide

You could love her if you paid
You could have her every day
You could love her if you prayed
You could have her every way

Down on her knees, she wept on the floor
This hopeless life she wanted no more
Dead in her mind and cold to the bone
She opened her eyes and saw she was alone

She never found out how much I tried
All of the sadness she kept made me blind
She never found out how much I cried
Rope so tight on the night that she died

You could love her if you paid
You could have her every day
You could love her if you prayed
You could have her every way

I never found out how she survived
A life living lies is a life of denial
I never found out how she could lie
The lie on her face and the darkness inside

You could love her if you paid
You could have her every day
You could love her if you prayed
You could have her every way

Love Her - Seether

The girl mentioned in Love Her by Seether has been in love a few times. Nothing was there to stop the love she had for these guys, not even the abuse and torture she put herself through. She's finally healing from it, but in that process another guy comes along. He loves her and is willing to accept her pain as his own. As she starts to love him, she won't let him take her pain or be put through as much pain as she has. That's why she puts up walls. She'd rather protect the one she loves and her love for him than let him get hurt and feel her misery. He feels sorrow because he doesn't get to experience the real her with this wall she has put up, but he still loves her no matter what.

Amour (english version) Rammstein

Love is a wild animal
It breathes you it looks for you
It nests upon broken hearts
and goes hunting when there are kisses and candles
It sucks tightly on your lips
and digs tunnels through your ribs
It drops softly like snow
First it gets hot then cold in the end it hurts

Amour Amour
Everyone just wants to tame you
Amour Amour in the end
caught between your teeth

Love is a wild animal
It bites and scratches and steps towards me
It holds me tightly with a thousand arms
and drags me into its love nest
It devours me completely
and retches me back out after many years
It drops softly like snow
First it gets hot then cold in the end it hurts

Amour Amour
Everyone just wants to tame you
Amour Amour in the end
caught between your teeth

Love is a wild animal
You fall into its trap
It stares into your eyes
Spellbound when its gaze hits you

Please please give me poison

Amour - Rammstein

Amour
by Rammstein describes the bad side of love. While love may be a great experience, things can also take a turn for the worse. It devours me completely explains how love just overtakes everything, the whole being of a person. They can't control it and it can't be stopped, spellbound when its gaze hits you. This song explains the bad effects love can have on you. How it can literally devour you from the inside out because that love can't be stopped, but it can't be carried on or shown either. Usually people just think about how love is such a powerful emotion, how all it can do is bring you euphoria and complete happiness. No one really thinks about how love can tear you down, completely crush you. That's when you get these suicidal songs, when people see how terrible love can be and they just want to give up because they're living in extremes; they went from complete euphoria to total depression and heartache.

Not Good Enough For The Truth In Cliché Escape the Fate

Hurtful words,
from my enemies of the last five years.
What's it like to die alone?
How does it feel when tears freeze,
when you cry?
The blood in your veins is twenty below.

Sitting in this room playing Russian Roulette.
Finger on the trigger to my dear Juliet.
Out from the window see her backdrop silhouette.
This blood on my hands is something I cannot forget. (x2)
Something I cannot forget.

So for now,
take this down a notch.
Crash my car through your window.
Make sure you're still alive,
just in time to kill you.

Sitting in this room playing Russian Roulette.
Finger on the trigger to my dear Juliet.
Out from the window see her backdrop silhouette.
This blood on my hands is something I cannot forget. (x2)
Something I cannot forget.

I can't take this, take any more.
I can't take this, take any more.
I cannot feel what you've done to me.
(I can't take this, take any more.) (x2)
What you've done to me.

So for now,
take this down a notch.
Crash my car through your window.

Sitting in this room playing Russian Roulette.
Finger on the trigger to my dear Juliet.
Out from the window see her backdrop silhouette.
This blood on my hands is something I cannot forget. (x2)
Something I cannot forget.

not good enough for truth in cliche - escape the fate

Not Good Enough For The Truth In Cliché is entirely about Romeo and Juliet. These two people are completely in love, but somehow, something isn't quite working out. Whether it's their parents, or the fact that they're from two feuding families, there is a problem with these two being together. This is when they decide that death is the only answer. Usually people fear death, it's the last thing on earth that they want to happen. The Romeo and Juliet of this song, however, embrace death and the idea that they will be together for eternity. At first, this song appears morbid, as if Romeo wants to kill Juliet. This is not the case. They love eachother so much that they want to kill eachother. Romeo will kill Juliet if it means they'll be together forever. The same is true for Juliet. Therefore, they are willing to go so far as kill the person they love, in the power of love. This is what I consider to be the ultimate sacrifice but also the ultimate reward when it comes to love.
